Diffraction Coefficients for Dielectric Wedges and Corners With Application to Monostatic Building Imaging

چکیده
Abstract A high frequency asymptotic technique based on the Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD) is employed for building interior imaging. The analysis is implemented using a set of heuristic diffraction coefficients for dielectric wedges and corners with ray-tracing that accounts for multiple through-wall interactions within building. Comparisons with experimental data of the images formed by a conventional FFT method are given to demonstrate the suitability and efficacy of our analysis for through-wall building imaging.

متن کاملA New Aspect on Wedge Diffraction: Hidden Rays on the Shadow Boundary
The phenomenon of diffraction may be defined by any deviation of geometrical rays from rectilinear paths which cannot be interpreted as reflection and refraction. Although the ascending series solutions to some canonical structures as cylinders, spheres, conducting wedges, etc. are available, they are not directly useful in high frequency region. Those ascending series solutions suffer from ver...

Geometrical optics (GO), the most widely used tool in analysis of high frequency electromagnetic problems, provides the first term of an asymptotic series solution to the Maxwell's equations [1]. It is implemented completely by employing the ordinary ray-tracing technique. To include the second asymptotic term systematically, Keller [2] suggested a generalization of the Fermat's principle on di...
متن کاملAN Improved UTD Based Model For The Multiple Building Diffraction Of Plane Waves In Urban Environments By Using Higher Order Diffraction Coeficients
This paper describes an improved model for multiple building diffraction modeling based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD). A well-known problem in conventional uniform theory of diffraction (CUTD) is multiple-edge transition zone diffraction. Here, higher order diffracted fields are used in order to improve the result; hence, we use higher order diffraction coefficients to improve a hy...
متن کاملOptical necklaces generated by the diffraction on a stack of dielectric wedges
We demonstrate that the regular ring-shaped arrays of Gaussian beams, or optical necklaces, can be generated using diffraction on a stack of dielectric wedges. A condition for self-similarity and structural stability of the beams has been derived and shows good comparison with experimental data. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
